Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with performances so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
