Netflix Casts Spot-On Star for Bon Clay in One Piece Season 3
The Secret Organization is poised to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t unfold until the third season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has just been cast.
Netflix announced Tuesday that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bentham. The role possesses the power to morph into an perfect replica of any individual they’ve touched with their right hand. Escola, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that role re-envisioned as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action show, as in the original manga and animated series.
The new cast member joins several other new cast members tasked with bringing the group to the screen, featuring leader Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the well-known actor, a talented actress as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Though the role is a major member of Baroque Works, the persona won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this signals a notable change in the placement of their first appearance, one that could indicate more adjustments to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the character. Besides their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and numerous honors for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.
Netflix's live-action One Piece show is set to return for its next installment on the tenth of March, 2026.
