Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Concerns.

'Major setback' for the English camp after Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.

The pace bowler added to England's injury problems upon exiting the playing area early on day two in the Melbourne Test against Australia.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his left hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over at the MCG.

The England team stated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and would spend time away from the action in order to be assessed "during the day".

The series decider in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January begins this coming Sunday.

England have been without fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.

Atkinson struggled in the opening two Tests, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was left out from the previous Test, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match in the playing XI.

The county bowler improved at the MCG, taking two wickets with the ball, then making 28 while batting being one of only three teammates who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he resumed on Saturday morning and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he sent down a slower ball to the batsman and immediately felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Melbourne match after being left out the Adelaide game.
