President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

The president stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid law enforcement in the capital.

“She was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to help others.”

Memorial arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the administration to suspend asylum processing and halt granting entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told a news show that she aimed to meet with the family.

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
